Supporting Seven Students at GS Kimironko 1 to Stay in School

Supporting Seven Students at GS Kimironko 1 to Stay in School

On November 1st, 2025, our team visited GS Kimironko 1 to support students facing financial challenges that threatened their ability to remain in school. During the visit, we paid school fees for seven students to ensure they could continue their education without interruption. In addition to covering their fees, we also provided essential school materials to help them participate fully in their classes. Understanding that learning is difficult without basic needs being met, we also provided food support to the students. This small act of care aimed to reduce the burdens they face and give them a better chance to focus on their studies. The visit was filled with gratitude, smiles, and hope. Seeing the students in their classrooms reminded us that even small acts of support can make a meaningful difference in a child's education and future. We remain committed to supporting students and creating opportunities that allow them to thrive in school and beyond.

Supporting Six Students with School Fees Assistance at GS Remera

Education is essential for shaping brighter futures, yet many students face financial challenges that make it difficult to remain in school. Through our ongoing commitment to supporting education, we paid school fees for six students who were at risk of missing school due to financial difficulties. This support ensured that they could continue attending classes and focusing on their learning. Working closely with the school leadership, the students were identified based on their need for assistance. By covering their school fees, we helped remove a barrier that could have interrupted their education. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive environment. Supporting students in this way helps give them the chance to continue building their future through education.

BESTIM Celebrates 5th Anniversary

BESTIM Celebrates 5th Anniversary

BESTIM celebrated its 5th anniversary, marking five years of continuous service to students and communities in rural Rwanda. What started as a small group of twenty-five students at G.S. Remera Rukoma has grown into a recognized movement for youth mental health. The celebration brought together current and former members, supporters, and community leaders to reflect on the journey and recommit to the mission. Over five years, BESTIM has reached over 600 students, trained more than 25 peer advocates, and provided direct financial support to students at risk of dropping out. The anniversary was a reminder that young people can be powerful agents of change when given the opportunity and support to lead.

Through this workshop, BESTIM created a safe space where participants could learn about mental health challenges, recognize early signs, explore coping strategies, and access the support they need. Led by experienced mental health professionals, mentors, and trained facilitators, the session focused on breaking stigma, promoting emotional well-being, and building a culture of empathy and support. The workshops blended education, interactive discussions, real-life storytelling, and practical tools that participants can apply in their daily lives.

Charity Event Supporting Single Mothers

Charity Event Supporting Single Mothers

In July 2023, BESTIM organized a charity event dedicated to supporting single mothers in the local community. Recognizing that family well-being directly impacts students' mental health, we extended our outreach beyond school walls. The event brought together BESTIM members and community volunteers to provide material support and companionship to single mothers facing difficult circumstances. This initiative reflects BESTIM's growing understanding that mental wellness is a community-wide responsibility, and that supporting families means supporting students.
